- 13% of workplace fatalities are from
sudden cardiac arrest
- The current national survival rate for
SCA is less than 52%
- The likelihood of successful
resuscitation decreases by about 10%
with every minute that passes
- An additional 40,000 lives could be
saved each year in the U.S. alone with
widespread access to defibrillators
- 34% of those who have implemented
an AED program have used their AED
at least once in order to help save a
life
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere
without warning. For the greatest chance of survival from the most common cause
of SCA, a shock from a defibrillator must be delivered within the first few minutes of
collapse.
Philips advanced the out-of-hospital early defibrillation movement with the launch
of our first automated external defibrillator in 1996. Now with more than 275,000
devices worldwide, Philips is the global leader, and the trusted choice in early
defibrillation.
